  WINTER

2008 – 30 YEARS AND MOVING AHEAD

2008 will be 30 years of existence for the organization of New Adventures In Missions.  Through those years, hundreds of lives have been touched by the “almighty hand of God”.  Many pulpits across America are filled with New AIM veterans as well as  youth ministry positions, school teachers, secretaries, missionaries, nurses, guidance counselors, the military, being mommies and daddies, wives of preachers, self employment, those still in school/college and those sharing their faith in the public workplace.  The supporters of this ministry have a huge place in the lives of each of these people for keeping open a ministry to allow an avenue to help make their lives count more for Christ.  We invite you to come be a part of the mission program of this ministry June 26 – July 19, 2008 and allow God to touch your life or help touch the life of someone else as you share in mission work.  We need help to make the week of training successful next summer.  We need your young people and adults to make our mission projects successful.  Be a part of that blessing in 2008. Help us give praise to God for 30 years of service

Our thanks to Brooke for helping New AIM save some big bucks by providing us a place to stay during the National Missionary Convention in Cincinnati .  We were blessed to see lots of AIM veterans. Thanks to Kevin & Beth for helping recruit. In January and February, we are planning a recruitment trip through Iowa and the West.  Pray that will be fruitful for AIM and for those who will discover missions in 2008.  We would be glad to come to your church to update or share the New AIM program.

New AIM staff and our engineer are meeting with DNR concerning the solution to satisfy DNR requirements to accommodate for the house being below the dam.  At this point, all parties are  contemplating the lowering of the lake, widening of the emergency spillway to a percentage of carrying the overflow of a hundred-year flood, and shortening of the primary overflow.  Please be in prayer with us about this situation as these measures will definitely affect the use of the lake by our rentals and, possibly, fishing.

Much, much appreciation to those who helped get the lumber moved.  Roger & Arlene from CA stayed past their scheduled time to help, along with Keith, Carolyn, DeWayne, Joan, Jeannette and Mark who were faithful to help tear apart, load and/or unload.  Thanks to Don for donating metal to roof and side the lumber storage shed which is being built at BLCC.  Nails need to be pulled out of the lumber, the maze needs to be built, and Lakeside building needs to be torn down and rebuilt, so if anyone is looking for a work project, here is an opportunity.  In May, the camp will need to be cleaned, including windows.  God is so good in sending help.  We really appreciate it since there are just 2 people on staff.  If you would like to be part of that blessing, please contact us and plan to come.  During 2007, there were approximately 1,400 people used BLCC.  Summer, 2008, has more rentals.

Charles Swaney would appreciate hearing from AIM vets:  5614 Inskeep Rd. Washington Courthouse , OH 43160

THE LAKE DAM

As it now stands, the lake will have to be lowered, possibly some time this fall.  We have been able to pay $4,000 to the engineer for the portion of the analysis of the lake dam.  $1,000 will be due when the work is completed.  Please pray for a solution to this issue so the dam can be certified, the lake saved and the issue will come to a close.

BEECHWOOD LAKE CHRISTIAN CAMP

BLCC has bloomed with young people this summer.  Three weeks there were approximately 150 young people each week, one week had 50 and now it's weekend rentals.  By the financial help of those who support this ministry, a place is provided for these young people to have the summer camp experience and learn about God's will for their lives.  It gives them the opportunity to meet young people from other areas and gain strength in their Bible knowledge and applying their knowledge to their lives.

Spring, 2008

GRADUATION

It was indeed our pleasure to know and have as part of this ministry, Edith Books.  She went to be with our Lord, April 14.  She and husband Rusty have shared in this ministry for many years and helped make our PR trip to Florida a memorable one.  Her son, Ronnie and Amanda, were part of the work here for several years.  We rejoice with the family in the life that Edie lived.

MISSION PROJECTS

At this time, we have 8 people signed up to go to Northern Ireland .  We have an assistant female leader, but still need a male and female leader.  I remind you that leaders go for half the cost of the project.  It’s an excellent opportunity to make your life count more for Christ and to share Christ with our youth.  The team will do a VBS type program for the young people and work with a deaf church.  Anyone with sign language skills would be able to use them at this church.  We have one who can do that, but to be effective, more could be used.  We have two young people that would like to go to Honduras , and need some more to go there.  It would be a wonderful adventure to get in on the ground floor of building the church and providing a place for worship on the new grounds.  It’s not too late to go this year and would be a blessing to anyone who will put themselves in a position for God to bless them.  Help with training:  we need help with our training, June 26-July 2.  We need Bible Study teachers, clown trainers, puppet teachers, cooks, preachers for rallies, concrete workers, woodworkers, VBS trainers, etc.  Even though the team won’t be doing the construction-type mission in N.I., we use it as a team training effort here at BLCC.

PRAYER WARRIORS

We are very much encouraged by knowing that we have prayer warriors that pray for us every day.  When times come that are discouraging and we wonder how God is going to work this one out, we think of all the people that tell us they pray for this ministry every day.  Then we know that this time will pass and we will get through it because “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world”.  This gives us a calm assurance that we can face anything Satan throws at us.  We thank those who pray and encourage more to lift us up to God.

WELCOME

Welcome to those who have recently signed our mailing list.  We appreciate your interest in this ministry and pray that someday we can share together as partners in our Lord’s work.  This ministry strives to help young people bring their lives closer to Christ.  Anyone who goes on a mission project is putting themselves in a position to be blessed by God.  He certainly does that when we let him.  Usually the one serving is the one to receive the greatest blessing.  Adventures In Missions is a youth and missions organization that trains teams of high school and college-age young people (13 to 22) to accomplish short-term mission projects.  We utilize the talents and enthusiasm of teens and adult leaders to help alleviate the critical shortage of workers in areas normally considered mission fields.

Adventures In Missions is dedicated to building spiritual maturity in today’s youth and motivating them to utilize their God-given potential for Christ, his church and the family.

  WORK DAYS

If you’re looking for a place to serve, it is Beechwood Lake Christian Camp.  Many things need done before June 2.  After the wind we’ve had this winter, many limbs are scattered around the yard and need to be picked up before mowing begins.  If you have a youth group that would like to help, it would be a great blessing to us.  We could probably work in a wiener roast or pizza.  Cabins need to be swept and just general spring housecleaning.  The dishes in the kitchen need to be washed after setting all winter.  Please contact us and schedule a time to serve.  The campground is so big that mowing is almost an everyday project.  Anyone that can come and share part of that load would be welcome.  We have been donated a riding Wheel Horse and need someone to fine-tune it to keep it running.  After the storms this winter, the Challenge Course needs much TLC:  the beaver have chewed the trees that hold Ezekiel’s wheel and it’s on the ground, the bridge has washed out from the rains, the maze needs to be built.  The Challenge Course is a very vital part of our training for the mission field, so needs to be in working order.   As an added lesson/study facility, Richard has built a gazebo on the far side of the lake dam.  It needs seats built. (Update:  It is now finished and looks very nice.)

MANNA MANIA/ FAMILY CAMP

Mark your calendars:  October 10-12, 2008.  The Diggles Family will be here.  It’s so appropriate for them to come as Christine and Katie sing with Doug and Diane signs some songs.  We’ll start with a bowl of chili on Friday evening around 7 and will conclude after lunch on Sunday.  Cost is $10 for singles and $25 for a family.  This includes all the meals and lodging.  Join us for a preaching, singing weekend with time to visit with old friends and make new ones.

  TRAVEL

We have attended several state and youth conventions this winter/spring and spoken in churches.  We appreciate the people who have provided hospitality or helped us with travel expenses.  We would like to know about your state’s convention or youth convention so we can share this ministry with those in your state.  It’s our desire to have more mission teams next year.  Sharing with churches and conventions gives us an opportunity to reach more to allow them to know about serving others whether abroad or in their own backyard.  Thanks to our supporters for the funds to be able to let others know and provide an avenue for those who wish to serve
