Frequently Asked Questions about AIM:

New Adventures In Missions is a youth and missions organization that trains teams of high school and college-age young people (13 to 22) to accomplish short term mission projects.  We utilize the talents and enthusiasm of teens and adult leaders to help alleviate the critical shortage of workers in areas normally considered mission fields.

New Adventures In Missions is dedicated to building spiritual maturity in today's youth and motivating them to utilize their God-given potential for Christ, his church, and the family.

Short-term projects are basically construction, evangelism, or a combination of both.  Construction teams concentrate their efforts on building projects, repair work, and remodeling.  Evangelism teams teach, preach, call, do survey work, hold Vacation Bible Schools, and other work requested by the mission.  All field work is directed and evaluated by trained adult team leaders, all of whom have completed AIM's Leadership Training.

Team members choose the project they wish to serve on from a brochure that describes the different projects.  Once a young person chooses a particular field he or she will fill out an application and send it to our main office.  AIM fills all projects on a first come, first served basis.

The minimum age for most projects is 13.  Teams serve over Christmas vacation, Spring Break, or in the summer.  Project terms are from seven to 31 days.  AIM also arranges custom projects for churches, youth groups, campus ministries and other groups.

Please see the page on Financial Information.

For seven days just prior to leaving for the field, summer teams undergo a rigorous period of training designed to acquaint them with the conditions and customs of the mission field to which they are going.  This training takes place at AIM's Beechwood Lake Christian Camp in southwest Indiana.  At "Success Camp", teams exert themselves to learn whatever is necessary to effectively function on the field.  Training emphasizes all aspects of a team's particular project:  Bible study and memorization, construction techniques, physical conditioning, teaching methods, clowning, puppetry, drama, music, personal devotions, cultural orientation, etc.

In addition to preparing for their project it is also very important that every team member get ready to return home.  Each project ends with "Debriefing", a time of sharing, praise, fellowship, and final preparations for service back home.  Missionaries, AIM staff members, and others acquaint team members with opportunities for further service, show them how to present mission projects, help equip them to share Christ with others when they return home, etc.

New Adventures In Missions has been intensively training teens for mission work since 1984.  The experience and abilities of our staff and leaders enable it to offer what many believe to be the finest program of its type.
